Is non-alcoholic red wine better for your health?

The much-heralded heart-healthy benefits of red wine may now be available to those who prefer the non-alcoholic version. Based on research published in the bi-weekly medical journal, “Circulation Research,” it is not the alcohol but the antioxidants present in red wine that lower blood pressure. The article added that alcohol may actually dilute the effects of the antioxidants. Participants in the study had either diabetes or three or more risk factors for heart disease. They realized such a significant drop in blood pressure that their risk for heart disease was lowered by 14% and their risk for strokes was lowered by 20%.
