Confidential Counseling for Professionals

When your career is part of why you haven't reached out yet.

Discreet addiction and family counseling for physicians, attorneys, pilots, nurses, executives, and first responders. Private sessions, private groups when you want one, and a Houston office far enough from most of our clients' professional worlds that nobody is going to see your car in the lot.

Why This Page Exists

High-visibility careers make asking for help harder. We get that.

The more people depend on you, the more it can feel like reaching out is the one thing you can't do. A drink problem that everyone at home already knows about. A prescription that started somewhere legitimate and didn't stay there. Stimulants to keep up. Something heavier to come down. The part that keeps you stuck is usually not the substance itself, it's the fear of what happens to your license, your reputation, your family, and your work if anyone finds out.

We've sat with that fear across the table from hundreds of professionals. It's a real fear. It's also almost never the reason people end up losing what they love. What usually costs them the license or the career is the thing they didn't address while they could still choose how.

Who We See

The careers represented in our room every week.

No profession is rare here. If you see yours on this list, you won't be the first one from your field on our schedule this month.

Physicians & Dentists

Working around call schedules, confidentiality concerns, and monitoring programs when applicable. Coordination with Texas Medical Board peer assistance available on request.

Attorneys & Judges

Bar association discretion, TLAP-compatible documentation, and counselors familiar with the specific pressures of litigation calendars and high-stakes careers.

Pilots & Aviation

Counseling that supports HIMS and other aviation recovery pathways. Scheduling built around trip pairings and reserve weeks.

Nurses & Clinical Staff

Understanding of Texas Peer Assistance for Nurses (TPAPN) processes and the realities of rotating shifts, floor access to medications, and clinical burnout.

Executives & Founders

Private pay, evening and early-morning telehealth, and counselors comfortable with board-level confidentiality and travel-heavy schedules.

First Responders & Military

Trauma-informed care for police, fire, EMS, veterans, and active-duty personnel. We hold space for the parts of the job that don't come home easily.

What Makes This Different

Clinical-grade confidentiality

No employer notifications. No automatic reports to licensing boards. No insurance claim unless you ask for one. Private pay is the default, and we don't put diagnoses in carrier systems that can follow you into a credentialing review later.

Geographic discretion

Our Houston office sits off Memorial Drive at Interstate 10 and Dairy Ashford, in the Energy Corridor. Far enough from most downtown practices, hospital systems, and courthouses that walking from your car to our front door doesn't come with a 50-50 chance of running into someone you know. Paid on-site parking, private entrance, shared waiting space with other professional-services tenants, not a clinical lobby.

Verified-identity telehealth

HIPAA-secure video with identity verification on intake and clinical-grade encryption in transit. Same licensed counselors you'd meet in person. For a lot of our professional clients, video is the whole engagement, by design.

Off-hours scheduling

Weekday evenings to 9:00 pm, early mornings available by arrangement, and block-booking for travel-heavy weeks. If your only quiet window is a Wednesday at 7:30 am or a Thursday at 8:00 pm, tell us on the first call.

Peer-Assistance & Monitoring Programs

Many of our professional clients come in connected to a peer-assistance program or board-monitored contract. We're set up to coordinate with those programs, document compliance, and do the clinical work underneath the paperwork.

Plenty of others come in on their own, before anyone at work knows anything is going on. That's the version we prefer. Voluntary engagement, no oversight relationship, no file that lives anywhere outside your counseling chart. Whichever door you're coming in through, we start where you are.

  • Texas Medical Board peer assistance coordination (on request with signed release)
  • Texas Lawyers' Assistance Program (TLAP)-compatible documentation
  • Texas Peer Assistance for Nurses (TPAPN) compliance support
  • Aviation HIMS and return-to-work planning
  • Employer-sponsored EAP stepdowns when the EAP cap is reached
  • Voluntary, unreported engagement when no program is involved

Questions & Answers

No. Counseling sessions are protected health information under HIPAA. We do not notify employers, licensing boards, or insurance carriers on our own initiative. If your situation involves a mandated program or monitoring, we can document attendance only with your written authorization, and we share only the information that authorization covers.

No. We see many professional clients entirely by secure video. Others come in once or twice and do the rest online. Some travel in from other cities specifically because Houston is far enough from their home network that nobody is going to recognize them in the waiting room. On your first call we'll help you decide which of these arrangements fits your schedule and your privacy needs.

Yes, when you want us to. Many professional health programs require proof of ongoing treatment and, in some cases, direct counselor communication. We can handle that with your signed releases and a clear documentation plan set up at intake. If you're not in a monitoring program and don't want to be, we respect that too.

We can keep you in individual counseling only. If a group element would help, we screen for conflicts before placement and can move you if anything surfaces. In specific cases we have run small, profession-specific groups. Ask during the first call whether one is active for your field.

Our weekday hours go to 9:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and we work with professional clients' schedules whenever we can. Telehealth slots are often easier to fit into a real week than in-office slots. First step is a call or message so we can match you to a counselor whose availability lines up with yours.

We offer private-pay billing. No insurance claim, no EOB that lands in a shared inbox, no mental health diagnosis submitted to a carrier. Private pay is the most common choice for our professional clients. We'll be straightforward about cost on the first call so you can decide.

The First Call is Private

Ten minutes. No intake paperwork. No commitment.

A phone call to Kagey Family Counseling is not part of your professional record. It's not documented anywhere except our schedule. You can ask anything, say as much or as little as you want, and hang up if it doesn't feel right. That's the only way we know to start this for people whose careers are part of the equation.
