Founded in 1990, NOFAS (National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome) is the only international non-profit organization committed entirely to the prevention and support of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). The learning disabilities and motor skill problems that FASD individuals suffer are completely preventable. NOFAS seeks to eliminate FASD through education, support, and treatment for the pregnant mother. NOFAS also hopes to bring greater public awareness to the problem of FASD, and provide more community support to the victims of this disability. Currently, FASD affects more newborns than autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis, spina bifida, and SIDS combined
