For Professionals

Do You Have A Client Struggling With Substance Abuse Or Addiction Issues?

Are you a therapist, counselor or other mental health professional with a client who is struggling with substance abuse or addiction issues? Are you beginning to feel that your client may need added support, either through direct alcohol counseling or drug counseling, group therapy or a partial hospitalization program (PHP) or an intensive outpatient program (IOP)? Are you looking to collaborate with licenced, clinical substance abuse counselors who take a positive approach to recovery to help your client receive the most comprehensive and effective care possible?

Working As A Team

At Kagey Family Counseling, it’s of the utmost importance to us that all of our clients receive the highest level of care and support possible. This often means teaming up with other mental, emotional and physical health care providers to ensure that clients get what they need to heal, grow and succeed. As substance abuse and addiction specialists, we often work in tandem with other mental health professionals when it becomes clear that a client needs additional drug and/or alcohol counseling, support and intervention

Whether you refer a client to us for a PHP, IOP, group therapy or specific drug and alcohol counseling, as a primary therapist, psychiatrist or medical provider, you remain an integral part of the treatment process. With the best interests of each individual client in mind, we  firmly believe in working in teams—as we all have our areas of expertise—to provide the most comprehensive treatment possible.

A Continuum Of Care

Many of our clients come into our PHP and IOPs following residential, inpatient care. And, many already have an individual therapist, but require the intensive group dynamic and support that our PHPs and IOPs provide as they transition back into their day-to-day lives. As an individual therapist, we know that you know your client and his or her history, needs and goals best, and we highly respect your role and the decision to entrust us with your client’s treatment on issues surrounding substance abuse and addiction.

We also understand and appreciate that substance abuse and addiction issues often go hand-and-hand with trauma and other mental health and medical issues. Unresolved trauma often keeps people in a cycle of substance abuse and addiction, and active substance abuse and addiction can similarly perpetuate the cycle of trauma. Together as a team, and also with a psychiatrist if needed for medication management, we can work collaboratively in the best interest of the client and provide help, support and guidance in the most impactful way.

Engaging In Collaborative Care

If you’re interested in learning more about IOPs, PHPs, substance abuse support groups and individual alcohol and/or drug counseling, I invite you to call me, Linda, founder and director of Kagey Family Counseling, directly at 832-928-0211 or contact me through our website. I’m happy to discuss our practice and programs and how we can work collaboratively to best support your client.
