The Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) presented its keystone event to celebrate National Substance Abuse Prevention Month. More than 200 teenagers and community organizations across the country participated in the National “Above the Influence” Day. Many communities sponsored panel discussions as well as having teens participate in their own unique way by singing, dancing, or reading poetry. Teenagers also shared their feelings and concerns online using the ATI Facebook Challenge. The ONDCP believes in recognizing teens who reject risky behavior and also the communities who support these teenagers. Continuing activities geared toward celebrating National Substance Abuse Prevention Month are scheduled in communities around the country throughout October.
