While it is no shock that professional athletes, such as baseball players or pro-cyclists, are subject to random drug screening to verify that they are not doping, many parents are shocked to discover that their children may be tested, as well. The Delaware Valley School district recently sent home a permission slip for parents to sign off on, allowing their children to be drug-tested. This was mandated as a necessary requirement for any middle school student wanting to participate in extracurricular activities. Current states that require drug testing for middle school students include Florida, Alabama, Missouri, West Virginia, Arkansas, Ohio, New Jersey, and Texas.
